The Hefei Sili River Water Quality Compliance Remediation Project – Initial Stormwater Interception, Storage and Treatment Works, undertaken by China National Chemical Engineering No.3 Construction Co., Ltd., has passed completion acceptance and commissioning. Integrating the sponge city concept, it achieves unified goals of “water safety, water environment, and water landscape”, providing replicable experience for connotation-driven urban development.
This is the first urban renewal project exceeding 100 million yuan undertaken by CNCEC Third after relocating to Hefei, and includes four regulating reservoirs (with a total capacity of 30,500 cubic meters) and supporting facilities. During construction, the team followed the principle that “every project has a plan and every task has a standard” to tackle challenges, unified processes through “model-led demonstration”, introduced intelligent equipment such as fully automatic rebar cage winding machines, and adopted construction methods such as low-clearance equipment and sectional hoisting to solve construction difficulties. A four-level quality management system was established, 19 new building technologies were applied, and the project won honors including the “Luzhou Cup” award.
The project also innovatively adopted technologies such as slurry balance pipe jacking and high-support formwork, and integrated an intelligent central control system. The fully underground construction of the regulating reservoirs saves space, while the ground level has been transformed into an “ecological and vibrant rain garden”. After being put into operation, the project improves basin water quality and alleviates urban waterlogging. In the future, CNCEC Third will promote the “Hefei experience” to support green urban development.
