POWERCHINA Nuclear Power Company: Datang Douhe Thermal Power Unit 2 Successfully Connected to the Grid on First Attempt

At 2:18 a.m. on August 22, Unit 2 of the Datang International Douhe 2×660MW Cogeneration Project, undertaken by POWERCHINA Nuclear Power Company, was successfully connected to the grid on its first attempt. The unit has officially acquired power generation capability, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent 168-hour full-load trial operation and commercial operation.

The project is located in Kaiping District, Tangshan City, Hebei Province, and is a reconstruction and expansion project at the original plant site. It involves the construction of two new domestically produced ultra-supercritical coal-fired cogeneration units, with flue gas treatment facilities constructed simultaneously. After commissioning, the plant is expected to supply 5,607,360 MWh of electricity and 11,477,800 GJ of heat annually, with a heat-to-power ratio of 148.49% during the heating season.

During the sprint phase, the project team remained on duty around the clock and coordinated with multiple parties, overcoming difficulties through mechanisms such as a “24-hour duty roster” and “dedicated tracking” to complete key milestones including boiler ignition. The unit has now entered the commissioning and optimization stage, and the team will make every effort to advance the subsequent work to ensure high-standard commissioning.
