POWERCHINA Nuclear Power Company: Pipe Welding Process Benchmarks Lead Quality Improvement in Power Engineering

At this critical stage in building a new-type power system, POWERCHINA Nuclear Power Company, guided by the philosophy of “benchmark-led, pursuing excellence through refinement,” is advancing quality and process enhancement initiatives, embedding a benchmark-driven mechanism throughout the entire project lifecycle, focusing on the core links of pipeline installation and welding to deliver premium projects.

Before construction, the company implements a “benchmark first” approach: selecting key nodes to create full-process physical mock-ups; installation benchmarks standardize pipeline gradient and elevation to ensure stable system operation; welding benchmarks specify standards such as bevel machining and material matching and, combined with on-site briefings and training, establish unified quality baselines for construction.

From parameter monitoring for steel structures and flue/air duct welding, to three-level acceptance and standardized construction for boiler bodies and turbine pipelines, and further to refined welding and automatic welding technology applications at the Zhejiang San’ao Nuclear Power Project, the company exercises strict quality control over every process. Welded pipes in projects such as the Zhangqiu gas-fired cogeneration plant and Guodian Boxing present fully filled, well-formed welds with an attractive appearance, setting industry benchmarks with professional craftsmanship and empowering the high-quality development of power construction.
