PowerChina’s Hydropower Station in Bosnia and Herzegovina Completed and Handed Over

Recently, the Ulog Hydropower Station in Bosnia and Herzegovina, constructed by Sinohydro Bureau 7 under PowerChina, was completed and handed over. It is the first hydropower station built by a Chinese enterprise in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and also PowerChina’s first hydropower EPC project in Europe.

Located in the city of Kalinovik in the Republika Srpska of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the hydropower station has a maximum dam height of 53 meters and a total reservoir capacity of 6.44 million cubic meters. Its two generating units have a total installed capacity of 35.14 megawatts and an average annual power output of 82.34 million kilowatt-hours. Once in operation, it can save 33,000 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 86,000 tons, enhancing the local power supply capacity and reducing dependence on fossil energy.

PowerChina entered the Bosnian market in 2012 and has also undertaken several milestone projects, including the Ivovik Wind Farm (the largest energy project by a Chinese enterprise in Bosnia and Herzegovina) and the Solbus 132 MW PV project (the largest photovoltaic project in Bosnia and Herzegovina).
