During the China–Central Asia Summit on June 16, China Chemical International, together with Donghua Company, signed the Cooperation Agreement on the Kazakhstan Coal-to-Gas Project with the Research Institute of KazMunayGas, witnessed by Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy. This is Kazakhstan’s first coal-to-gas project and a milestone achievement in deepening China–Kazakhstan cooperation on clean energy.
Population, industry, and agriculture in central-eastern and northern Kazakhstan are concentrated and rely on coal for power generation and heating, while natural gas resources are concentrated in the west; the central and northern regions lack stable gas supplies and sufficient pipelines. Leveraging its leading coal-chemical technologies and equipment, China Chemical will help Kazakhstan convert its abundant coal resources into natural gas, enhance its gas supply capacity, promote the transition from traditional to clean energy, and support the diversification of Kazakhstan’s economy.
This cooperation is an important outcome of the summit, advancing the global reach of Chinese standards, technologies, and equipment, and providing energy solutions for Belt and Road countries. Going forward, China Chemical will capitalize on its overseas strengths to implement high-quality projects abroad and contribute to building a world-class enterprise.
